Hawaiian King Coffee in Holualoa, owned by Christopher Kim, won second place, while Healani Farms took third. Sixty-one Kona coffee farms submitted 50-pound samples to the blind taste test, although just five pounds were entered into the cupping competition. (Pacific Business News, HI)

In 1994, Hiroki and wife Setsuko were instrumental in founding the Holualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture and today serve as volunteer directors for the organization. Hiroki's works are the most varied in the exhibition. (Honolulu Advertiser)

John Schroedel of the St. Juvenaly Orthodox Mission in Holualoa realized that something special was happening when he stepped out of the exit chute only to be confronted with a line of television cameras. The Holualoa Public Library was closed earlier this year; library officials said the closure would be temporary, but because the branch has not had a permanent staff member and the library system cannot hire new employees, the date the library would reopen had not been determined.
