During what was supposed to be the opening day of his trial in New Bedford Superior Court, Timothy Corbin, 41, pleaded guilty Monday, Nov. 9 to seven separate charges, including manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, and a sixth offense operating under the influence. The man, Norman Zalesky Jr., had been convicted in district court of cruelty to an animal after he was spotted hitting the dog on the neck and back of the head repeatedly and after telling police he did it to put the fear of God in the dog.
