Waterbury Hospital, which reduced its staff in the wake of a difficult year in fiscal 2008, has hired 30 nurses since the beginning of the summer, the hospital said Friday. All 30 have been certified by the state as registered nurses and are working either in one of the hospital's three medical-surgical units or in its emergency department, said Sandy Lombardi, the hospital's senior human resources consultant.
